SWEDISH actor Alexander Skarsgard says he hasn't been approached to play thunder god Thor in Marvel's film adaptation of its comic book.
It had earlier been reported that Marvel Studios and Thor director Kenneth Branagh had a shortlist which included Skarsgard, along with Josh Hartnett, Charlie Hunnam, Tom Hiddleston, Liam Hemsworth and Joel Kinnaman.
Stockholm-born Skarsgard, 32, was asked if he would be playing Thor, and said: "No, I don't think so, I haven't gotten the call, so..."
Skarsgard plays the role of Eric Northman, a 1000-year-old Viking vampire who is owner of Fangtasia, the fictional bar for bloodsuckers in HBO's True Blood series.
In the comic book stories, Thor has an earthly alter-ego as disabled doctor Donald Blake who transforms into the deity by bashing his cane on the ground.
He is a superhero who is a member of the Avengers team alongside Iron Man, Captain America and other crimefighters.
Thor will be released on June 17, 2011 and The Avengers ensemble movie comes out on May 4, 2012.
