Scary Just Got Sexy
Tips:
So the time has come, for the end. Well for the first season of Supernatural, that has totally been consuming all my time for the last 2 weeks.
"Supernatural" is basically an American horror/mystery/thriller television series that concerns the paranormal from 2005. The series follows the brothers Dean and Sam Winchester, played by Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, "who travel across the country in a black 1967 Chevy Impala investigating and combating paranormal events and other unexplained occurrences, many of them based on folklore, myths, and American urban legends as well as classic supernatural creatures such as vampires, werewolves, and ghosts".
Fascinating, no? Ok, well to be honest, Supernatural isn't at all a typical series I would follow, but Em gave the first two seasons to me as a gift. Em is a HUGE fan of Supernatural, and I suppose this was her way of luring me over to the dark side. As you guyz know, if I have started something, I have to complete it. Hence have I started following it, I'll watch it till the end... even if it will kill me, which it probably will!
I'm a big scardy-cat easily frightened. I hardly ever watch horror movies or anything semi-scary, but my friends, specially my male friends, have a tendency to lure me to watch it with them and love to see how i kinda crawl down in my seat, covering my face with my cot or scarf, almost hiding, and see how I jump or gasp for air when something "scary" happens. Isch. I've oftened wondered why people let themself go through this, why they inflict themselves with such experience, as watching horror movies. If they want a thrill - go to an amusementpark or something.
So its kinda bit of contradiction that I'm watching a horror series. But it sure is an interesting experience. Me laying on the sofa with a big blanket over myself, barely peeking up to see the series, fast forwarding it when the music gets too creepy or I know something bad is gonna happen, but that often ends up in me having to rewind it all over again cuz I missed a dialogue or something. And I cant watch it to late, no, cuz then I get totally freaked out - I become all edgy and jumpy. I'm probably already scaring myself half to death, but I suppose it's a pain I'm getting used to. And I would say its worth it.
This posts title is actually one of taglines for Supernatural, and if you have seen the series, you would know what I am talking about. Dean Winchester is portrayed by actor Jensen Ackles, whom Em has referred as being "The prettiest man on Earth". And I think she might be onto something: he is extremely pretty with wonderful features, almost as if face was carved by an amazing sculptor. Just look at those cheekbones and chin - that is totally such a manly feauture. Add the full, soft lips and those intense eyes, almost makes him androgyn purrrty.
But he is fantastic as Dean. It's an role that could easily have been very stereotypical bad-boy-with-a-heart-role, but Jensen adds depth & layers to Dean that makes him complex and so real. Or maybe I simply like the series and the character because it is so dark. Dunno, I think we all can relate to that, relate to the things that lures in the darkest corners in our own heart that we try to hide and deny. Maybe that is one of the reasons why Batman in Gotham City has always been one of my favourite superhero. One should never underestimate the power of the dark side, should they? But to balance it all off, I also love all the witty, sarcy dialougue between the brothers in Supernatural, that is simply awesome!
Hmm, maybe I'm just looking for excuses and reasons to continue my ogling of the series. Season 3 is already being aired on Swedish tellie, and I know that season 4 is being shoot as we speak. That leaves me with some catching up with season 2. Troll.
Åå orka engelska Johanna , hah!
